Fall Fashion Trends 2019: The Blazer Revisited

First off I would like to apologize for the quality of these photos.  I got all dressed and ready to take some outfit photos when I realized my tripod was broken. So, I had to improvise and prop up my camera on a table. I was also going to change into another outfit but by the time I was done shooting these photos I was drenched in sweat. (Between running around my house for 15 minutes in a long sleeved turtleneck and blazer than spending another 20 minutes taking photos outside in 75 degree weather dressed like it is late Fall, that is bound to happen. By the way, Fall weather where you at?!) But, honestly I'm pretty proud of this outfit. Especially since it was completely improvised and I put it together in 5 minutes.

I thrifted the blazer, belt, and skirt (Goodwill, I got them at Goodwill. I like specifying where I got things because a lot of people will show off these designer finds and say they ~thrifted~ them and I'm like???????? Girl what thrift store are you going to because 98% of the time all I find at thrift stores are reject dressed from the 1980s and grandma sweaters but not the cute kind??) and the shoes are my mom's. They actually could not zip up all the way so I was trying to conceal that in the photos. Basically this whole photoshoot was a hot mess. But, I got it done which is what counts.

Anyway, on to the fashion part of this post. As I was skimming through fashion sites I noticed a Fall 2019 trend that I personally loved. It was blazers which I believe have been trending for awhile, but instead of the usual shapeless blazers which gave off sort of an androgynous look, a belt was added to cinch the waist making the ensemble more feminine. I played a little with this trend in this outfit! (I added some photos above of other ways people are styling this trend.)

Like I said previously I really liked how this outfit turned out. It felt like an actual "look". I'm in a big transitional period with my wardrobe, between me trying to lose weight and my style changing pretty drastically over the past few years, it's been kind of a mess. I'm slowly trying to add new pieces to my wardrobe, though which has also proven difficult because I am lacking on the funds currently. But, slowly but surely! That's why this outfit made me happy because I didn't think I had enough in my closet to create a look I'd be proud of. Anyway, thanks for reading if you've gotten this far and I hope you all are having fantastic weeks!!

  1. I love this outfit on you! I totally understand the "lacking on funds" we just bought our first house, so I'm trying my hardest to pair new items together, to create a newer feel to old clothes. If you have any second hand stores near you, see if you can sell some clothes too!

  3. Love the belt! FYI I've had some good luck with designer thrift via Thred Up, Ebay and occasionally Poshmark but it can certainly be hit or miss.
