Yesterday A Petite Flower Vintage turned 1 years old! I thought a lovely way to celebrate it's birthday and the start of the new year would be to share with you all my top 5 favorite items. I remember when I first opened A Petite Flower Vintage I only had about 11 items for sale.  Most of them were pretty random and some honestly a little ugly.  (I was still learning ok!!) Except for this one dress.
This dress holds a special lil place in my heart because it's the first item I sold ever on A Petite Flower Vintage.  I remember I was so proud when I finally sold an item because it took about two months.  It's also obviously adorable which makes it hard not to be one of my favorites.
This lovely 1960s dress is one of my favorites because for one, it's beautiful. I especially adore the lace collar. Second, because it was the perfect dress for a photoshoot at one of my favorite places, The Boardwalk at Walt Disney World.  This is probably one of my favorite photoshoots that I've ever done because it helped me conquer my anxiety about taking photos of myself in very public places.  And if you've ever been to The Boardwalk or just Disney World in general, you know there is rarely ever a spot devoid of people.
This dress made my favorites list for obvious reasons.  It's adorable and it just screams "The 80s" to me.  I happened upon this gem at a goodwill & I was and still am extremely proud of this find.
I found this gorgeous dress from the 1960s on ebay and I remember bidding on it thinking I would have to fight for it but, surprisingly I was the only bidder!  This is the perfect dress for all you boho babes out there & I am surprised someone hasn't snatched it up yet.
Yes, I know, I'm cheating by having two for my last favorite but I just couldn't choose ok. The lovely lil dress on the left is from the 1980s and it's one of my favorites because it's so flouncy.  I felt like a fairy when I was wearing it.  Also, the colors and the floral pattern are just beautiful.  The dress on the right is also from the 1980s.  I love this dress because it's basically the most twirlable dress I've ever worn.  I spent maybe 20 minutes twirling in it & I have about 50 photos of me twirling because I just couldn't stop!

I hope everyone has a happy & safe New Years! I hope 2016 is full of growth & new possibilities for you.

Here are a few photos I took on the beach at sunset one evening.
Hello everyone! Sorry it's kind of been awhile.  It's been too cold for me lately to go out & take photos. This week though, has been absolutely lovely. (and by lovely I mean not 2 degrees and snowing.) It's finally starting to feel like spring and I am very excited about it!! If the weather continues to be as wonderful as it has this week, I'll definitely try & make a habit of posting more.
Yesterday afternoon it was actually pretty outside. The sun was in & out but it was nice for a change being able to stand outside without freezing to death. Since it was so pleasant out, I decided I should take advantage of the lovely weather & take some photos of the outfit I wore that day. The dress I'm wearing actually got shrunk in the washer but luckily I can still wear it. It kind of shrunk weird. Like, it basically just got shorter (when usually when things shrink they shrink everywhere and not just in length??????), so, now I can't wear it without leggings or tights but that's ok because it's still cute!!!!!
This is my first official post with my new template! I really wanted a layout that was less cluttered than my last and the focus was more on the posts.  I felt like in my old one the sidebar and all the other extra junk made my blog look messy and took away from the actual posts.  I especially like how the about me section and other extra stuff is on the bottom instead of the side. It looks much cleaner that way and less crowded.
I hope you all had wonderful weeks!
I had a little self portrait therapy session late this afternoon. I was feeling restless and I really wanted to take some photos, but it was so cold outside today and I didn't want to go out in that weather. buuuuuut, I noticed the lovely afternoon sunlight streaming in from my window, so I decided to take some photos in my bedroom.  It was fun experimenting with my manual focus lens, which I've not used in awhile, especially on myself.  I also really like how soft these photos look.  I put a scarf over my lens to achieve that effect.  It was nice taking simple close up portraits of myself.  I usually don't take up close photos of myself, so this was definitely a little out of my comfort zone and it took a lot of experimenting, but i'm very happy about how they turned out.

I really want to start taking more fashion photography instead of conceptual photography.  Conceptual photography will always be my first love, but I've been really into fashion photography lately.  I'll definitely still take some conceptual photos now and again, but it just won't be my main focus as it has been in the past.  I think it'll be fun trying something new!!!!
Since it's still the beginning of 2015 and all, I thought I would post four of my favorite photos that I created last year!!!!!
 Cupid's Arrow
This photo is probably my favorite because the concept is something that is extremely personal to me & I feel like I executed it pretty well.

Take to the Air
I love this photo because taking self portraits at sunset has proven to be pretty difficult for me & this was the first photo I've taken at sunset that I can actually say i'm proud of.

Nephelai
I'm just really proud of the way I edited this photo & how pretty it turned out to be. I love how colorful and soft it is.

On Looking Ahead
This is another photo where the concept is a favorite of mine.  This photo was extremely relevant to the stage of life I was in when I created it.  I always feel slightly more proud of photos where the concept is something extremely personal to me. Especially if I feel like I executed it well.
A few weeks ago I opened up my first vintage clothing shop on etsy.  I've been having a lot of fun going out vintage clothes hunting and slowly building up my inventory.  I thought I would show you guys a few of my favorite things i'm selling in my shop! you can view my whole shop here

I've honestly been really slacking on my photography game lately. Even though i'm right in the middle of a 52 weeks project I've just not been feeling that creative or motivated when it comes to my photos.  I've just been going through the motions & I've not been that inspired at all. This week, though, I looked out my window and I saw that it was snowing.  I remembered how two years ago if I saw it was snowing I would immediately get extremely excited, grab my camera & go shoot something.  I originally planned to just take something inside for this week but instead I decided to screw it and I went out in my backyard and laid in the snow.  Even though by the time I was done my whole body was completely numb, it was invigorating and it made me realize how much I missed doing crazy things for a photo. This shoot inspired me to break free from my creative rut and really start trying with my photography again.

I usually like to let a photo speak for itself.  Especially since I find it so hard describing how I feel.  That's kind of why I started photographing.  It helps me express my feelings without having to say anything.  I also like letting my viewers interpret my photos however they like.  That's another thing I appreciate about photography, and art in general really, is that one work of art can mean so many different things.  It just depends on how the viewer decides to interpret it!!!! Anyway, to make the concept explanation short & sweet, this photo is basically inspired by the feelings of loneliness I've been wrestling with lately.
